Aargh… CA is rearing its ugly head again!

My beloved John loves me very much, I know that beyond the shadow of a doubt! But it seems CA loves me much more, an attachment that I abhor and can definitely do without. Eeek… an evil thingy, rearing its ugly head again inside me!

With the exception of a slight elevated CEA level from 5.0 to 8.3, then to 11.6 in several blood tests taken over a span of one and a half years, I had no symptoms whatsoever and feel fine health wise. Simply leading a normal healthy life with no problem in food intake, whether home-cooked or otherwise, enjoying gardening and occasional outings with friends, sleeping well, and couldn’t be happier.

The oncologist was okay with the slight elevated CEA readings thus far. However, the surgeon was unsatisfied and insisted that I have a PET Scan done on June 10 to rule out any misgivings and to see him again on July 1 for the results. Thank God for the surgeon’s good discernment as the PET/CT result indicated metastasis. John and I were devastated when the bombshell exploded… we had not expected the relapse to be so soon, less than 2 years remission

Whatever, he suggested that I see him again three weeks later after his discussion with the radiologist, gynaecologist and oncologist for a more detailed scenario of my condition. The waiting was somewhat unbearable as all kinds of negative thoughts took control. D-day arrived and he confirmed on July 22 that I’m having Stage 4 CA of transcoelomic peritoneal metastases with left ovarian and uterus involvement. Surgery is ruled out as it’ll be massive, messy and no guarantee as such cancerous cells are impossible to contain. Chemotherapy is the only option and I’ll be seeing the oncologist on Aug 8 for further advice.

Well, John and I were devastated by the dreadful news initially but now have slowly accepted the inevitable. Life goes on and we take one day at a time, surrendering all into The Almighty God’s gracious and merciful hands, and take delight that our Loving Father is in control and He alone knows what’s best for us. Bible verses such as Isaiah 43:1-5, Jeremiah 29:11-13, Philippians 4:13 and 1 Corinthians 10:13 gives us comfort, strength and peace.

To everyone reading this post…
I’m disclosing all these not to gain your sympathy but to request for your prayers during these times of great need. We believe strongly in the power of prayer… it’s amazing!

We’d appreciate very much if you could uplift us both in your prayers as we face the many challenges ahead, especially the chemotherapy that will certainly sap my energy and my darling’s as he nurse me back to health. John isn’t that well too as he’s having lumbar spondylosis which causes him frequent pains in his legs and buttocks, without fail everyday.

Thank you very much for your prayers and may God bless you all for your kind and thoughtful deeds. May good health prevail for all of us!

I was deep in thought when I read this news, a familiar step the same.

You’re so sweet, Yara! We truly appreciate your kind thoughts and prayers… thank you so much! God bless you, dear friend.
We too are grateful to mother nature that continues to give us much joy daily and uplifts our spirits ever so often. ;-)

Please meditate on this – Romans 8:11 But if the spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

1 Corinthians 11:23-26 exhorts us to observe the Holy Communion fairly often. It is a way to ‘yam char’ with our Lord. John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

You’re a kind soul… bless you Juliet! Thanks for sharing those meaningful bible verses that reaffirm God’s ever-abiding presence in us and His immeasurable love for His children. I draw great comfort, strength and peace meditating on His words daily…
Lamentations 3:22-24 is another of my fave:
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases
    His mercies never come to an end;
    They are new every morning
    Great is your faithfulness.
The Lord is all I have, and so in Him I put my hope.

Have you tried high dose of Vitamin C? It can’t hurt and my friend had some lumps in her neck and after 3 months of high dose they stopped growing and reduced in size then 6 months they became clear to the scan. Just a thought to try and we are all conected. I love your page because we have a lot of the same plants in Costa Rica and there is not much information to grow them. Big hugs and support.

  7. Jacqueline Says:

Hi Kris… you’re such a dear! Thanks a lot for kind suggestion re Vitamin C… much appreciated. Will google search for more info about the pros and cons, as well as seek my oncologist’s advice regarding the dosage. Whatever, I think no harm in taking a 500mg tablet/day. ;)
    Thanks again. God bless.

    Hi Jacqueline,

God bless you in your recovery.

I’d like to share an interesting book I read called “Killing Cancer, Not People”. Its views are controversial in that in believes that medical treatments for cancer do more harm than good. I think it’s up to people to make up their own minds about that. What the book talks about which is without a doubt true is that nutrition has a big role to play in recovery and since you’ve been nurturing your lovely garden, I’m sure you believe in the power of nutrition too.

One thing the book recommends is something I adopted over a year ago – Kangen water. My mum-in-law had two sisters with cancer (one colon, one breast) in the past two years and since we got our Kangen machine, she diligently delivered water to her sisters every week and made sure they drank a lot of it. Her sister with breast cancer had advanced cancer (stage 4 I believe) and at her last checkup, her tumour had gone. Water is fundamental to life and it can only help you and anyone else to drink more water. Kangen water is the best there is.

My in laws deliver water to lots of people who order it through them these days. If you’re interested, please let mw know and I will pass your contact on.

Hi Julia… thank you very much for your prayerful thoughts and blessings. Appreciate your suggestions on Kangen water… will need to do more research before jumping on the bandwagon… Anyway, we do appreciate your very good intentions and thank you lots for taking the trouble to share here. God bless you.

A blessing to befriend you too, Shirley! Much thanks for kind thoughts and assurance of prayers… John and I appreciate that very much. God bless you too.
Have a great weekend ahead. :D

Stay strong Jackie, prayers move mountains, my prayers are with you.

  13. Jacqueline Says:

Thank you so much, Lim Eng Keat…. I’m truly strengthened and comforted knowing that I’m in your generous thoughts and prayers. Indeed, prayers move mountains and when God steps in, miracles do happen. Even St. Pio of Pietrelcina acclaimed that prayer is the key to the heart of God. And, I believe that He will heal me in His good time. Glory, praise and thanks be to God, who is ever gracious, merciful and faithful to His children.
Thanks again, dear friend and God bless you.
